The name means "happy camping ground creek", which is entirely appropriate.

About

Our Friends group was established in 2002, with the help and support of Melbourne Water and Nillumbik Shire Council.

"Karingal Yalloc" means "happy camping ground creek".

We meet at various sites on the water course - which is fairly degraded - on the last Sunday of most months, between 10am and noon (refreshments afterwards).

Our Purpose

Our task is to help restore the creek to something approaching what it may have looked at prior to European settlement.

This involves the removal of exotic weeds, replacing these with indigenous plants, and maintaining the various sites.

We are also establishing the "Nillumbik Indigenous Plants Park", so that people can see what plants are most suitable for this area.

News

Our next working bee - and the last for the year - is on Sunday November 24th. Usual site - corner Karingal Drive and Nerreman Gateway, Eltham, 10am-noon.

We will be completing the mulching on the current site, and doing maintenance on the corner plot.

Get Involved

Come to a working bee whenever you have the time.

We meet on the last Sunday of the month, except for July (second last Sunday), December and January (no working bees).

Latest Project

We have a new grant from Nillumbik Shire Council to retain contractors to put in place a significant amount of jute matting.
